The Committee function like the Ministry Committees of Old with oversight and support of all the recognised ministries of the national church as well as local expressions of ministry such as Lay Pastor and Worship Leader.

As well as committee work, Convener of Resourcing Ministry takes the lead in looking after all those involved in christian ministry, both lay and ordained.

This can be everything from arranging restorative away days for frontline staff to supervising students in training or imagining new forms of ministry for the next phase of church life.

Membership: Convenor, Vice-Convenor plus 6 others

  1. To enable ministries within the Bounds, through the recruitment, training, and support of recognised ministries of the Church and the assessment and monitoring of patterns of deployment of those ministries.
  2. To oversee the work of the Presbytery Chaplains, to provide specific support for newly-ordained ministers and to develop further pastoral care and support for all ministries.
  3. To offer a strategic lead in the development of collaborative ministry which promotes the service of the Church of Scotland.
  4. In conjunction with the Mission Committee to develop new forms of local and regional ministry reflecting the missional context within which the church today finds itself.
  5. To take responsibility for supporting those involved in Christian education at Presbytery and congregational level.
  6. To develop, promote and support Presbytery training schemes and maintain lists of those approved by Presbytery through schemes.
  7. To offer a presbytery programme of conferences, retreats, professional development and training to enable the whole people of God to fulfil their roles within presbytery.
  8. To offer support and encouragement to serving ministers and others to take advantage of existing training opportunities, study leave and reading programmes.
  9. To administer the Discernment Process and the supervising of candidates for the Ministry of Word and Sacrament, the Diaconate and the Readership.
  10. To encourage those who might be called to a ministry within the kirk.
  11. To administer bursaries related to recognised ministries of the Kirk and Presbytery
  12. To support School Chaplains and local expressions of Church in resourcing the Church’s work in schools across Presbytery.
  13. To support chaplaincies appropriate to local needs.
  14. To oversee the deployment of Readers and Ordained Local Ministers.
  15. To approve locally funded Ministry appointments.
  16. To do all of the above in partnership with others wherever possible.
