“Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

Fit to bursting

I remember a day in my life, when so many brilliant things happened to me. Then that evening – when I was already fit to burst – Scotland won a crucial World Cup qualifier. I was so unbelievably happy, I couldnae sleep.
I suppose if we genuinely lived believing and remembering that one day Jesus will come back, we would be even happier than a Scotland fan after a last-minute Kenny McLean goal. I suppose if we always lived remembering that one day we will talk with our Saviour, walk with our Messiah, and laugh with him, then we would be better able to cope with the rotten stuff in life. I suppose if we even had an iota of how heavenly life will be for everyone who gives their heart to Jesus, then we would be so fit to bursting that we would have even more courage to tell others.
Jesus is coming back (that’s what the angel promises here). Jesus will make the world utterly perfect (no more VAR). All he wants is for everyone to accept the gift he is holding out. For everyone who accepts Jesus, the best days of our lives are yet to come.
One day You’ll make everything new, Jesus
One day You will bind every wound
The former things shall all pass away
No more tears
One day You’ll make sense of it all, Jesus
One day every question resolved
Every anxious thought left behind
No more fear
When we all get to heaven
What a day of rejoicing that will be
When we all see Jesus
We’ll sing and shout the victory
Shall we pray?
Dear Jesus, help me today to live trusting that you are coming back. Help me live knowing you have got my perfect future in your hands. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you. Amen.
