“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.”
Psalm 100:1-3
Walk in courage
Keith Mack
As we journey towards Pentecost, after the grief of Good Friday and the life-giving love of Easter Sunday, Psalm 100 reminds us of the joy we find in being God’s people in community. The same Spirit that descended upon the disciples is with us today, beckoning us in, inviting us to worship God together with joy; to allow ourselves to be ushered into his presence and give thanks for the gift of Jesus Christ.
God is good: he is the shepherd who loves his sheep!
Pentecost is not a distant memory of the Holy Spirit once descending to the chosen few. Pentecost reminds us to live daily in the power of the Spirit; to walk in courage as we face the challenges of life; to serve with love; and to declare that the Lord God reigns!
Remember that God’s love endures forever and that we are his people. And as his light shines upon us, we are called to reflect his glory.
Shall we pray?
Gracious God, may you fill me with your Spirit afresh everyday. May you fill me up to overflowing. And may others be blessed in the overflow! Never let me forget that I am yours. Show me your ways. And may I forever walk in them. Amen.
